Dr. Wallen is an advisor on legal and intellectual property matters. Prior to advising Crinetics, he was vice president, intellectual property & corporate legal at Ambrx from February 2004 through September 2014. Prior to Ambrx, Dr. Wallen was a partner in the technology/intellectual property, life sciences, and patent litigation groups at Preston Gates & Ellis LLP and patent attorney for both Johnson & Johnson and Merck. He is a patent attorney registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He holds a B.S. in biology from State University of New York, College at Oswego, M.S. in clinical microbiology from Long Island University (Brooklyn), Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and J.D. from Seton Hall Law School.
